PWInsider.com reports that Edge's WWE contract expires at the end of this month, not on May 1 as they originally reported. According to sources on Friday, attempts to sign him to a new deal are underway and that the company was not happy that it was publicly revealed he's close to leaving. One source believed the contractual issue was financial and that WWE may have "underestimated" that Edge would simply sign whatever they threw at him.
The company is reportedly looking to sign him to a new full fledged deal, not a "Legends" deal. The deal would require him to get permission from WWE for any outside deals, unlike a Legends contract. Edge's potential contract would put him squarely back under WWE's control like any other performer.
